Eric Roberts aims to mend his relationships with his family, including sister Julia Roberts and estranged daughter Emma Roberts, through his new memoir.

In his revealing memoir, *Runaway Train: Or the Story of My Life So Far*, the 68-year-old Oscar-nominated actor discusses the highs and lows of his lengthy career, his battles with addiction, generational abuse, and offers a public apology to his renowned sister, Julia Roberts.

Eric Roberts, estranged father of actress Emma Roberts, explores his troubled upbringing and his complex, four-decade relationship with sister Julia, 56.

Despite early Hollywood success with films like *King of the Gypsies* and *Runaway Train*, which earned him an Oscar nomination, Eric’s career was plagued by drug addiction and personal struggles.

In his memoir, he candidly reflects on how he damaged his relationships with his sisters, Julia and Lisa, admitting, "I wouldn’t be surprised if they suffered from PTSD from when it was dangerous to be around me."

A significant moment comes when he offers a heartfelt apology to Julia, saying, "I hope Julia will accept this public apology. It was an asinine thing to have said," referencing his past remark, "If it wasn’t for me, there would be no Julia Roberts."

He also discusses his lost custody battle over Emma, which Julia supported, acknowledging that her decision was the right one.

“I imagine I will remain as Julia’s brother and Emma Roberts’ dad for the rest of my life,” he concludes, expressing a desire to heal family bonds.
